Beginning your expedition in Longyearbyen, this five-day cruise on the MS Fram steers you to some of the most remote and enigmatic polar regions where you can learn about the rich history and natural world of Spitsbergen. This incredible national park, home to The Seven Icebergs and is the greatest of the Norwegian islands.
During your Svalbard holiday you will visit remarkable regions, each with its own dramatic scenery and unparalleled views. Svalbard, the Arctic archipelago, is situated halfway between the North Pole and Norway and was formerly used as a base for hunting whales. There are many fantastic species of birds and animals for you to observe during your Svalbard cruise and there are believed to be approximately 3,000 polar bears which grace the icy territory. Amongst these mighty creatures you may spot reindeer, walruses and a whole manner of astonishing marine life.
The MS Fram is a fabulous expedition ship whose intention is to draw you nearer to nature on an unforgettable adventure. This robust ship was created to coast through glacial waters in order to direct you to regions that other modes of transport are unable to reach. Immerse yourself in the outdoor Jacuzzi as you bask in the Midnight Sun or relax and soak up the unrivalled views from the ship’s panoramic lounge using the complimentary binoculars.

Day 1 -
Fly from Oslo to Longyearbyen

Begin your arctic journey in Longyearbyen which is one of the world’s most northerly towns. You will have ample time to explore the area on a guided tour which is inclusive of a trip to the Svalbard Gallery and museum. As evening approaches you will return to the MS Fram and sail along the picturesque coastline to Barentsburg, where you can join the celebrations of the local folklore concert.

Day 2 -
Explore Spitsbergen

Today you will have the opportunity to discover the amazing history of whale hunting at Magdalenefjorden as you sail through the territory of the North West Spitsbergen National Park. Visit Raudfjorden, which translates into red fjord due to the Old Red sediments that give the landscape a warm hue.

Day 3 -
Liefdefjorden

Admire the splendour of the Monaco Glacier’s frozen landscapes as you head towards Moffen Island, where you can enjoy the antics of the corpulent walrus colonies. There is also a wide variety of marine birds that you can espy on this extraordinary cruise.

Day 4 -
Visit Ny Ålesund and Kongsfojorden

Visit Kongsfojorden which means King’s Fjord and is named after the The Kroner Peaks, also known as the Three Crowns. Absorb the magnificence of this distinctive, 1100 metre high range as you navigate towards Ny Ålesund. The former mining town is popular for furniture production and fishing and is the most northerly Arctic Research Station in the world.

Return Flight to Oslo

Arrive back in Longyearbyen for your return flight to Oslo.
