Join an exquisite cruise which celebrates the natural wonders, culinary delights and musical talents of Norway. Beginning in Kirkenes this extraordinary voyage sails along the magnificent Norwegian coastline, exploring many fjords and ports that larger ships cannot reach. The special programme includes an array of presentations by renowned chefs on preparing Norway’s legendary fresh produce such as the King Crab as well as beer, wine and food tasting sessions. Every day brings another memorable classical, jazz, folk or joik (traditional Sami singing) performance. There is also an array of extra optional activities available including city tours and visiting the North Cape. This unique cruise is only available once a year so book as soon as possible to ensure your place.

    This culinary and musical adventure includes:

  • A presentation by chefs on how to present and garnish Norwegian dishes using the ingredients of the day (Lofoten lamb, shellfish, king crab and salmon.
  • Beer, wine and Akvavit (Norwegian ‘national liquor’) tasting.
  • Local food and fruit sampling
  • Talk on brewery traditions in Norway and an introduction to beers from Norway’s Mack Brewery – the northernmost brewery in the world.
  • Performance by Edvard Grieg and the virtuoso violinist Ole Bull.
  • Jazz concerts
  • Joik (Sami style singing) followed by a talk on Sami culture, history and food.

Day 1 - Fly to Oslo

Depart from the UK on a flight to Oslo – the capital of Norway. On arrival transfer to an airport hotel, which is in a convenient location for the departure to Kirkenes tomorrow.

Day 2 - Sail from Kirkenes

Sail from Kirkenes  In the morning fly to Kirkenes where you will join the Tastes & Sounds of the Fjords cruise. This vibrant town is just 10km away from the Russian border and boasts a truly unique community. As the ship departs admire the dramatic and remote landscape of the north from the ship’s panoramic lounge or observation deck. Today your special programme begins with your first musical performance.

Day 3 - Hammerfest and Tromsø

Hammerfest and Tromsø Today the cruise sails through magnificent scenery to the world’s most northerly town Hammerfest. Between the special programme of culinary and musical activities you will have plenty of time to witness the breathtaking flora and fauna of the region. Later in the evening the cruise will arrive in Tromsø, the "Paris of the North" for an overnight stay.

Day 4 - The Lofoten Islands

The Lofoten Islands

The voyage continues south to the breathtakingly beautiful Lofoten Islands. As the ship sails through the stunning network of inlets and islands you will witness some of Norway’s most stunning scenery and hopefully wildlife. Beneath the waves there are two metre-wide king crabs, pods of whales and large shoals of cod and herring, the archipelago is also home to a thousand year old, cold-water coral reef which is believed to be the longest in Europe.


The Lofoten Islands also have a strong tradition of sheep farming and produce the famous Lofoten lamb, which is said to get its unique flavour from a natural diet of wild herbs, seaweed and mountain grass.

Day 5 - Across the Arctic Circle

Across the Arctic Circle Today you voyage across the Arctic Circle and sail through a region that is featured in many of Norway’s myths and legends, such as the hole in Mount Torghatten which is said to have been made by Hestmannen’s arrow. On clear days you can see the peaks of the dancing Seven Sisters mountain range from the deck.

Day 6 - Medieval Trondheim

Medieval Trondheim  An early port of call at Trondheim gives you the opportunity to explore the historic city. As the ship approaches port you will see the distinctive multicoloured wooden wharf which is just one example of the city’s unique architecture. Trondheim was Norway’s first capital and is home to the striking Nidaros Cathedral. After a mid-morning departure the cruise will sail out of the magnificent Trondheimsfjord and past Hitra Island and Kristiansund before calling at Molde the “Jazz capital of Norway”. Enjoy your final night at sea as the cruise journeys to Ålesund.

Day 7 - Bergen

Bergen The unique Tastes and Sounds of the Fjords cruise ends in Bergen early in the afternoon. Depending on your flight time you may have the chance to explore the city before returning to the UK.
