Bergen

Explore the narrow and winding medieval streets that constitute a large part of the Hanseatic city of Bergen on Norwegian coastal cruises. The picturesque Bryggen quarter abounds with colourful wooden buildings and there are many charming shops, restaurants and bars to discover. The local fish market and Hanseatic Museum are great places to visit during your time here or for incredible views of the fjords, ride the funicular to the summit of Mount Fløyen. The ship sets sail for Hjeltefjord in the evening.

Day 2 -
Ålesund and Geirangerfjord

Marvel at the amazing backdrops on Norwegian coastal cruises as the ship negotiates pretty islands en route to Ålesund. The fabulous Art Nouveau architecture in Kongensgate and Apotekergate are an inspiring sight of Norway and definitely worth seeing. For travellers who like a challenge, why not climb the 418 steps to the pinnacle of Mount Aksla for panoramic vistas? During the summer months, the ship sails to the extraordinary Geirangerfjord which is framed by torrential waterfalls that gush down the sheer cliff sides.

Day 3 -
Trondheim
|
The city of Trondheim is steeped in history and is a remarkable destination to visit on Norwegian coastal cruises. Step foot on the Old Town Bridge, Gamle Bybrua, which dates back to 1861 and is an example of neo-Gothic design. The remarkable Nidaros Cathedral is an impressive piece of architecture and a real treasure of this ‘Royal City’. The quaint houses that were built on stilts and frame the water’s edge are in an ideal location to take a relaxing stroll.
As Norwegian coastal cruises pass the Kjeungskjær lighthouse and weave between delightful islands, the panoramas become even more striking. Finally the ship arrives in Rørvik.

Day 4 -
The Arctic Circle and Lofoten Islands

Today on Norwegian coastal cruises we will see the famous ‘globe’ which rises up from a small island and indicates our crossing of the Arctic Circle. At this point on the cruise there is the option to take part in the Baptism by Njord, a native ritual that consists of an ice cube down your top!
Later in the evening our Norwegian coastal cruise reaches Svolvær, a major settlement of the Lofoten Islands. Known for its delightful fishing villages, Svolvær is enveloped by sugary beaches and steep granite cliffs. A walk around the fishermen’s cabins, also referred to as ‘Rorbuer’, is an enjoyable way to relax during your time here.

Day 5 -
Tromsø
|
Throughout the night the boat passes along the Raftsund Strait before docking in Tromsø. As a starting point for Arctic expeditions, Tromsø is certainly one of the highlights on Norwegian coastal cruises. The vibrant social scene, imposing architecture and friendly atmosphere makes the city a lively hub for visitors to explore. Tromsø is also home to the world’s northernmost university.

Day 6 -
Honningsvåg and the North Cape

Norwegian coastal cruises certainly present you with some of the most eye-catching scenery on Earth. Unwind in the comfort of the ship or out on deck as diverse vistas evolve through Magerøysund. Following an early port of call in Hammerfest, we disembark at the charming harbour of Honningsvåg, where you can choose to take a trip to the North Cape. Witness high Arctic species of birds that are only found on the Norwegian mainland. Later in the day we advance towards Kjøllefjord after passing the sacred rock, Finnjerka.

Day 7 -
Kirkenes – Voyage South

Kirkenes is the final destination on Norwegian coastal cruises northbound route. The ship turns around and begins its journey south.

Day 8 -
Hammerfest and Tromsø
|
After a hearty breakfast at the North Cape, you can opt to visit a Sámi family and learn about their intriguing way of life (additional cost). On our voyage south we call at Hammerfest prior to returning to Tromsø. Here you have the chance to enjoy the magnificent Midnight Concert at the Arctic Cathedral or if you prefer, get acquainted with the locals in one of the lively bars or restaurants.

Day 9 -
Vesterålen and Lofoten Islands

Take the opportunity in Stokmarknes to walk around the Hurtigruten Museum and learn about this illustrious cruise line, entry is free for all Hurtigruten passengers. We journey on through Raftsund and weather permitting, the ship will take an alternative route to Trollfjord where lofty peaks embrace the vessel. Next, Svolvær then Stamsund where you can marvel at the craggy peaks of the Lofoten Wall on Norwegian coastal cruises.

Day 10 -
Arctic Circle and Seven Sisters
