Day 3 -
29th December – Trondheim
|
Historically Trondheim has played more of a role in the development of Norway than Oslo. It was Trondheim that rulers used as the base of their power for hundreds of years and this can be seen in the medieval castle of King Sverre, the Gothic Nidaros Cathedral and the displays at the Sverresborg Trøndelag Folk Museum.

Day 4 -
30th December - The Arctic Circle
|
The ship crosses the Arctic Circle.

Day 5 -
New Year’s Eve at Tromsø
|
Arrive at Tromsø on New Year’s Eve in time to enjoy the sights of the city before the evening’s festivities. Optional daytime activities include husky sledding, city tours and a trip to the Polaria centre.
In the evening a special New Year’s dinner is served followed by traditional celebrations and dancing before leaving port under the cover of darkness. As always in this part of the world there is a chance of seeing the Northern Lights in the hours before midnight.

Day 6 -
New Year at North Cape
|
The new year brings a journey to Honningsvåg and an optional excursion to mainland Europe’s northernmost point – North Cape.
Rising over 300 metres above the sea, the cliffs at North Cape enjoy a view over the meeting of the Arctic and Atlantic oceans.

Day 7 -
2nd - January Alta
|
The area surrounding the Altafjord is known for its excellent conditions for viewing the Northern Lights.
Sheltered in the inner reaches of the fjord, Alta is a special feature of this festive cruise. Birch and pine trees surround the municipal district and make an excellent environment for dog sledding and snowmobiling.

Day 8 -
3rd January - Hammerfest
|
After an overnight stay in Alta the journey continues to Hammerfest, the world’s most northerly town.

Day 9 -
4th January - The Lofoten Islands
|
After the western fjords the Lofoten Islands are probably the most famous section of Norway’s coastline. Known for the abundance of wildlife that dwells below the waves, the Lofotens provide a feeding ground for two species of whale and hundreds of thousands of seabirds.

Day 10 -
5th January - The Seven Sisters
|
Re-cross the Arctic Circle and see the magnificent Seven Sisters mountain range.

6th January - Molde
|
Molde is known as “City of Roses” because of its many parks and gardens. A favourite for early 20th century diplomats, the city is perfect for relaxed exploration and casual strolls.

|
Return to Bergen in time for your flight home.
