Greenland : Arctic Glaciers and Icebergs Cruise
The Heart of Greenland
Disko Bay on the west coast of Greenland is an enchanting place to explore. Sailing on board one of the classic Hurtigruten ships, your Arctic glaciers and icebergs cruise will weave between the islands and skerries that speckle the rugged coastline of Greenland. Gaping fjords open up in front of you and enormous glaciers collapse slowly and majestically into the icy blue waters. The ocean surrounding the heart of Greenland is studded with icebergs in all shapes and sizes that periodically flip when they become top heavy, revealing their previously hidden sculptures to the world.
The towns and villages that you will visit along the coast are undoubtedly charming, and their colourfully painted wooden buildings create a striking scene against the dramatic geology of Disko Bay. During your Arctic glaciers and icebergs cruise you will get the chance to spot some of the delightful wildlife and flora of Greenland which is best seen on one of the prearranged walking tours. Being so far north, guests on this summer voyage can experience the Midnight Sun, a bizarre phenomenon where the sun does not set at all between late May and mid July, allowing you to enjoy the spectacular scenery of Disko Bay at any time of day or night.
